<description>"Beautiful Decay" sharpens its gaze on disorder and desolation, where memories are forgotten and left behind, and the laws of entropy take hold: the cracks and blood and decay of modern life. Everything grows older, yet is beautiful in its release.

"Beautiful Decay" has artist works from Germany, Sweden, England, Italy, Czech Republic, Australia, Brazil, and all across the United States and Canada. There won't be another place to see these one-of-a-kind pictures on any continent.

The show opens on Thursday, May 16, and runs until June 1. The gallery is open Wednesday–Saturday 1–4 PM.

<description>We wanted to rearrange the static formula of buying art, and involve you, the audience, a little bit more. So we've assembled 8 of Vancouver's most talented artists to come in and paint 56 feet of canvas wrapped around the gallery; and you get to come in and determine what, how big, and where you want to crop their work! You get to choose exactly what you want to buy.

RULES:
-Using the sizes below, find an area of canvas you’d like to purchase. Use the pre-cut shapes to frame the area.
-A larger size trumps a smaller size. You are bidding on that specific space: If another person wants to purchase a larger size that encompasses yours, theirs wins.

PRICES:
12x12 - $125 24x48 - $650
12x24 - $225 36x48 - $850
18x24 - $275 36x60 - $950
24x24 - $340 48x48 - $1000

		<description>Photographs by Ben Nelms
Curated by Ben Nelms &#38; Jonathan Taggart

The show opens on Thursday, November 15, and runs until December 1. The gallery is open Wednesday–Saturdays 1–4PM.

A photographic look at the harvesting of Sharks off the coast of Canada that will be exhibited in the heart of Vancouver's Chinatown.

To coincide with the 10-page story in the October/November issue of Canadian Geographic, Ben Nelms will be exhibiting his photo story, 'Fin – The great green shark hunt'.

Humans have hunted sharks for centuries, particularly for consumption as shark fin soup — a delicacy in Chinese culture. Animal rights advocates criticize the shark fin harvest, often referencing horrific videos and photographs to argue the process is inhumane and unjustified. Proponents counter that consuming shark fins is integral to maintaing cultural traditions.

Is B.C home to the worlds first 'sustainable' shark fishery?

"in September 2011, British Columbia’s spiny dogfish fishery became the first shark fishery on the planet to earn Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) certification, an international certification program that promotes good management and traceability of seafood…"

Read more from Christopher Pollon's story in current issue of Canadian Geographic.

<description>A photography show by Tristan Casey

Tristan discovers coastal BC from the agricultural viewpoint that it’s still ‘the new world’, positing that, in the future, forests may be logged out of existence and coastal islands wiped off the map. In Vancouver’s backyard, there is a world that future generations may never touch.

The show opens on Thursday, September 20, and runs until October 6. The gallery is open Wednesday–Saturdays 1–4PM.

The show is in conjunction with Olio Festival: www.oliofestival.com/
